The Tandberg Digital Linear Tape 4000 offers 40Gb of data storage capacity at transfer rates of up to 10.8Gb per hour.(assuming 2:1 data compression)  This performance makes the Tandberg DLT4000 the ideal choice for high-end workstations, workgroup servers, departmental servers, and mid-range computers utilizing Windows NT, NetWare and UNIX operating systems.
The Tandberg DLT4000 has full read and write compatibility (with the correct cartridge) with all previous DLT tape products up to the 20/40Gb level.  This includes drives from other manufacturers as well thus securing your investment.
The drive utilizes proven linear recording technology, which includes a precision tape guidance mechanism and a head design with self cleaning features for reliability, 2 channel parallel recording and DLZ compression for performance, read-while-write data verification, CRC, Reed-Solomon ECC for data integrity, self monitoring diagnostics and TapeAlert to ensure optimium performance.
